Do you like our knitted chromosomes? More info here.
Welcome to the chromosome dynamics labThe Chromosome Dynamics Lab studies how chromosome architecture contributes to faithful genome segregation. We aim to identify novel routes to aneuploidy that underlie several human conditions, including developmental diseases, cancer and infertility.

Our latest work on the unexpected link between sister chromatid resolution and transcription termination in mitosis was highlighted in the journal cover @EMBOReports.
Raquel Oliveira is now an Associate Professor at the Católica Medical School and vice-director of the recently established Católica Biomedical Research Centre.
See the news. Check our latest work describing the first two known patients with biallelic mutation in BUB1 published on Science Advances, and what happens when mitosis (and chromosome structure) goes awry. Great international collaboration between cell biologists, geneticists and clinicians.
Stay tuned on Sara's work for future follow up at Carvalhal Lab Webpage. We have just been awarded an ERC consolidator Grant to study transcriptional inactivation in mitosis. Check more on our institutional press release .
